Damianos Cave

This very interesting cavern is located near Agalas Village close to Zakynthos west coast.

Because it is laid out in 2 stories, you have the impression you are visiting 2 caves. This is a marvelous area. You have to park your car 5 minutes away and take the path that leads you to its entrance.

A local tale tells that Dragon Andronios fossil was found in the cave. This creature and Damianos, the lord of the village, did not get along and Damianos defeated the dragon twice. The first time he made the dragon build 12 water wells in the village while he watched from the cavern. However, when they had the second confrontation, he killed the dragon.

Damianos Cave Tavern, next to it, is one of the most pleasant places for a meal in Zante.

Delicious dishes in a bucolic and pleasant environment.

It is served in a woodland with a beautiful view of the sea between mountains in the southwest of Zakynthos, near the village of Agalas.
